November 6, 2003Hi Folks,
I installed the vent caps today, and I'm convinced they've added 15 rear-wheel horsepower. Each.
Seriously, I went with the Escalade caps from gmpartsdirect.com, and definitely don't regret the decision. I'd have pics up, but it's raining pretty hard here in NorCal. I promise to update the gallery as soon as possible.
The Mrs. and I are still debating on whether or not to paint them. I'm leaning that way, but she isn't. You married guys know what that means. The caps are glossy black, and while they look great on their own, they really don't match the flat black of the window trim. The only bad part - there are a few scratches on each cap. Too small to take the time to send them back, but noticeable from about two feet in. Even if I did send them back, it might not matter since they're intended to be sprayed anyway.
So - for the Tahoe and Sub folks who are considering a change from the scalloped look, I definitely recommend the Escalade caps. I can't speak for pricing of the Stillen ones, but I got these for just under $125 with shipping...kinda' hard to beat. Whether or not we end up spraying them, I really think they look better than the OEM ones.
