June 6, 2005can someone tell me if this happend to them too.. i just put on 23s on my ride wit falken 305/40's and the ride seemed to change alot not in the city but when ur going over 50 u being to notice it.. is it because of the new tires???
June 7, 2005If you're not noticing it in the city, but more at higher speeds, I'm guessing your balance didn't get done right. I'd go back to the shop and have them rebalance.
Welcome to SUVW
June 7, 2005Yeah, usually it's the other way around. I would check the air pressure first. The tech put 50psi in my new 22's and it rode really stiff. I dropped the pressure to 40psi and they rode like different tires.
June 7, 2005i have the same problem i just put 22's with 40 series tires. noticed the ride got noticeably bad when i reach around 60mph. i just got the tires rebalanced, but its the same. should i take them back and have them rebalance them again or is this common with low profile tires. i never had problems like this on my smaller compact cars.
June 7, 2005When purchasing my 24s This was a concern for me, I did not no what to expect the ride to be. But they are infact Great, The ride better than the 22s I had( Im not sure if it was the wheel or improper balancing) But im Totally happy with the ride. I can go 80MPH+ with out a shimmy in the steering wheel.
Sorry For rambling; But my guess would be the balancing. Make sure they 'Road Force' or 'Ride match' Balance due to the heavy tires and wheels.
Good luck-And Keep us posted
BTW- Your ride looks sweeet!
June 7, 2005Does your ride get stiff or shake at high speeds?
If your getting some vibration at 50+...then they should be rebalanced.
June 7, 2005thank you for all the replys well i went back to shop and they told me that they didnt balance both sides of the rims or something and that the parts they need will be in on monday lets hope it goes away 1 other thing i noticed was that it rubs quite a bit anything i can do i change this??
June 7, 2005You'll need to trim the inner fender liner to stop the rubbing...something your wheel shop can do. I had to take off about 2".
June 7, 2005hey super grover do u have pics of the trimming they did is it really noticeable to a person or not really thanks
June 7, 2005Here a link to an old post. Jerry put up a good picture of what the liner should look like after the mod...only guys with +20" wheels would know to look for the trim job. No one else should notice.
June 8, 2005When I trimmed mine, There was an 'indent' (for lack of better description) That was about an inch...I toook that off and no problems ...It doesnt look that noticable, But there are other ways..
