May 3, 2006Hello, I am new to this forum and hope you all can help. I recently purchased a 06 Denali XL new from dealer. Lots of kids therefore the 2nd row seats needed to be the bench. The annoying thing is that when ever we access the 3rd row, via the push up seat in the 2nd row, the floor mat jams up on the seat brackets. Thus the access seat will not move up to full access posistion and upon returning the seat to lock posistion the floor mat is snagged up. I don't feel like buying a new set of mats every month. Took problem to dealer and they said this is a normal thing, I wouldn't believe them, so I made my salesman take me to 2 other 06 Denali XLs with 2nd row bench seats to see. Sure enough these also had the same problem. Seems to me that after shelling out $45000 and having to pay these gas prices, $3.25/gal, I could expect better? Any suggestions? Can I shim up the seat, it would need about 1/2 to 3/4 inch to clear.

May 3, 2006Have you considered substituting the factory full-width one-piece second row floor mat in place of the 2 individual second row ones (I assume that you have the two-piece ones--one for each outboard seat in the second row)? I used to own a YXL with the second-row bench and factory two-piece second row mats, but for the life of me I can't remember if I had the same problem you described...but in any case when I swapped them out for the one-piece, I know for sure I didn't have what you're encountering.
May 4, 2006Don't feel like you are alone. Ford's OEM mats are very cheesy. I've replaced all of mine with heavy duty rubber mats from Wal Mart. Don't laugh, I know they are not the best in the world, but they are an incredible value.
May 4, 2006Thanks Toneman, but yes I have tried to replace with factory one piece with even worst outcome, because the one piece would not move out of the way as easy it got all jammed up. I went back to dealership and had my salesman go through some Yukon XLs, funny thing is that in the Yukon XLs this problem was not there. Although the carpeting is a little different and the bench seat seems to sit on a hump or platform which forms a step down to the floor pan. Seems to me that the Denali seat sits right on the floor pan and the carpet is plusher, however there does not seem to be any clearance. Works well without any floor mat. Hate to just have to "live with it". Once again one would think if they are trying to sell us the "TOP OF THE LINE" model for "TOP DOLLAR" they would pay close attention to even the littlest details. One would also assume that someone at GMC Quality control came across this before it left the factory? I know now my dealership knows about this, because when I went back again to look at the YXLs I looked into the Denali's again and saw that each truck had the floor mat to the access seat stored over on drivers side.
May 4, 2006It must be a XL thing, I have a Tahoe with 3 row seating and I have never had a problem with the factory mats at all.
May 4, 2006Im with Jimmy. Ive never had this problem with my Yukon. Might be a Nali problem. Hope your dealership does all it can to help you resolve this issue. You're right, you shouldn't have to "live with it"
May 4, 2006would adding washers under the seat mounts give you the extra space you need? maybe paint them the interior color, just a thought
May 4, 2006That's exactly what I did, unbolted seat mounts and shimmed up seat using washers. Only now this seat is hiher that the other part of bench, guess I'll have to raise that too. Shouldn't I get a salary or discount from GMC? Thanks for all your input.
May 6, 2006You're right. Someone should be paying closer attention to details, especially on the top of the line models.
