August 30, 2006Whats the best intake for the price for the Escalade?
August 30, 2006This is just as subjective as choice of muffler - it really depends. Personally, given the fact that it's an Escalade, I'd probably go with one of the enclosed-box designs, a la Volant, S&B, or even Outlaw. However, K&N and AEM are two other options that come to mind that both perform well.
If you consider Volant, keep in mind that their kit is still not CARB certified. Shouldn't be too big of an issue - you just bought your Escalade, right? If so you'll have at least two years before a inspection...hopefully by then they'll have the exemption sticker available.
August 30, 2006Correct I just bought it. Can you suggest a site on where to buy? Thanks for all your help
August 30, 2006I really like the guys @ hyperformanceauto.com. Great pricing and they've got terrific service as well.
August 31, 2006how often do you guys have inspection? that stinks!!
August 31, 2006We don't have inspections here. The bad part of this is that we have some really dangerous junk on the road.
August 31, 2006I saw an Intake from Ebay similar to K&N. for $100 worth it or no?
September 1, 2006I love my new AEM intake, you can definitely hear it under the hood under acceleration, which puts a smile on my face. I chose it for its easy to clean filter and no oil. I always over oiled my K&N's. Don't know why just always think it needs a little more here a little more there. I also love the look of it, you can get it in polished or poweder coated finishes.
September 7, 2006Installed my Brute Force last night, then test drove it for two miles and everything was fine. My wife used it this morning and she said it was fine. She just went to the store right now and told me that the Check Engine Light went on. What could be it?
September 7, 2006A number of things. Check the MAF sensor connection, all the clamps, and maybe even the MAF sensor wire itself. You'll want to use a flashlight to illuminate it - there's a chance it could have some oil on it from the filter. If so, you'll want to use an electronics cleaner to remove it.
September 7, 2006When I installed it last night, I didnt unplug the battery nor the MAP wiring. did I mess it up? Do I need to reset anything?
September 8, 2006I didn't have to reset anything but that little clip for the MAF was a buger to put back on and if you didn't hear it click in it could be loose. If you didn't disconnent it then that leaves me clueless. Maybe disconnect it and reconnect it, it always works on PC's
