October 25, 2006fishing line and a buff....as long as their not drilled in obviously....did that to mine and there is no trace of any emblems...
October 25, 2006I hear the 3M wheel is GREAT to remove the tape....
October 25, 2006I agree. I've heard fishing line works good for removing the badges along with a plastic paint scraper. They say the 3M wheel works great for removing the glue.
October 26, 2006Take fishing line to part of it then grab hold of the badge and slowly tear it off.....This actually gets the tape to stick to the badge and will come off without leaving hardly any extra tape on the vehicle. I did this on half my badges and spent a lot les time rubbing all the tape off. I then took some Honda Polish and wiped it down...no trace of badges!
October 26, 2006Chiming in, I would also like to remove badges, Is it true that a heat gun will assist in removing if it is not hot outside ?
Thanx in advance
October 26, 2006Yes, you can use a heat gun or hair dryer to soften the adheasive on cool days.
October 26, 2006I agree with the fishing line, if you still have glue that needs to be removed then rub some Goop on and let it sit for a few, wash off throughly, wax and then buff. BTW what are you getting
October 26, 2006Ooops, just noticed your "featured photo"
October 27, 2006Thanks for all the input. I did it tonight and I must say it looks great without the badging. Some thoughts from my experience.
1. Despite roasting the letters with a hair dryer, the dental floss trick only got "some" of the rubber adhesive off.
2. The hair dryer did make it easier to remove just the rubber like adhesive once the emblems were removed. But my thumb nail is still sore from all the picking!
3. The 3m Adhesive Remover works like magic! But man was I afraid that it was going to wash off the paint! It took a lot of that solution to get rid of all the adhesive though.
I think I am going to remove the YUKON XL emblem off the trunk lid as well as well as the Flex Fuel logo. Well, maybe not the Flex Fuel logo as it might prevent the local Seattle Leaf Lickers to stop throwing things at my trucks!
